Virtual Events: "Monty and Rose" and "Postcard from Waukegan" Online
"Monty and Rose" tells the story of a pair of endangered piping plovers that successfully nested at Chicago's Montrose Beach in the summer of 2019, the first of the species to nest in Chicago in 64 years. The director will be present.
"Postcard from Waukegan" is a 9 minute film that explains what happened here in Waukegan in 2018 when a pair of Piping Plovers, who later became known as Monty and Rose, attempted to nest in the Municipal Beach gravel parking lot. The film was shot in Waukegan.
Bob Dolgan is the founder of Turnstone Strategies, a small marketing/communications firm, and creator of "Monty and Rose." Bob started Turnstone Strategies after many years in nonprofit organizations including Advance Illinois and Greater Chicago Food Depository. His experience with Monty and Rose started as a volunteer plover monitor in 2019. A lifelong Midwesterner, Bob is a Board member of the Chicago Ornithological Society and President of Friends of Stone Academy, a 501c3 organization that supports a Chicago public school.
